Teams Competition

Teams will meet the event schedule and transmit all sculpture information to OrlandoCANstruction@gmail.com.

Details, Design Statement, and Sketch requirements:  This is a written statement explaining your team’s approach at following the event’s theme that year. You develop a Sculpture Title which is a catch phrase related to the theme. You then generate a Design Statement that elaborates on your thought processes behind your sculpture title and design.  The Description lists all of the food products you are using in the sculpture and explains why & how you are using them. It elaborates on why your design is special.  Lastly, the teams develop a sketch that visually shows the sculpture’s design intent. The sketch can be a simple hand-drawn sketch or a fully developed 3D computer-generated model image. Though the hand-drawn sketch is acceptable, teams will eventually need to develop a computer model to accurately determine the amount of food products needed.  This number will be used as your “grocery list”.

Rules

Canstruction© Orlando will photograph the structures based upon the National criteria. These photographs are taken without signage and without stanchions usually on the day of the build. Nutritious food is preferred, and junk food discouraged. No alcohol or glass containers allowed. The labels must remain visible for the build and intact after deconstruction. Because the sculptures need to be designed, it is encouraged for each team to have at least one member who is a design and construction professional. Structures must be completely self-supporting with a ¼” thick maximum leveling material. All other structural support options that provide easy de-mounting is permitted provided the labels and food containers are NOT damaged.

Teams are responsible for acquiring/ purchasing all food for their sculpture. Teams can fill out 501c3 with grocery receipts for tax deduction.
